At The Goldenberg Group, Powell leads the efforts to identify and secure the optimal users that will create the high level of placemaking desired in the company’s development pipeline, as well as leading those efforts for the redevelopment of the existing properties as they are transformed to meet the needs to customers and communities in the future. Powell is also Development Director, crafting projects and leading them through leasing, entitlements, financing and construction.
Prior to joining The Goldenberg Group in March of 2019, Powell was a Partner in Eureka Ventures, a real estate development company. From 2002-2008, Powell was Vice President, Investments at Regency Centers (NYSE:REG), Powell oversaw the regional real estate development and acquisition activity throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and north into New England, coordinating land purchase, entitlements, leasing, design and construction.
From 1993 through 2002, Powell served as vice president of development with the Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust (PREIT) where he completed power centers, mall expansions and renovations, office tower redevelopment and parking structure development.
Before turning his focus to commercial real estate development, Powell worked at Newport News Shipbuilding, where he worked on the design of carriers CVN 72 (Abraham Lincoln) and CVN 73 (George Washington) and the nuclear refueling of CVN 68 (Nimitz).
Powell holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas.
Additionally, Powell is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and served as the State Operations Director for the ICSC from 2004-2007. Powell is also a member of the Board of Governors and the Finance Committee at the Philadelphia Cricket Club.
