New Burlington Store Coming to Red Rose Commons in Lancaster, PA

Burlington Stores, a leading national off-price retailer,  will open a new 43,000 square foot store at Red Rose Commons, 1700 Fruitville Pike in Lancaster, PA 17601. The opening, in Fall of 2017, will bring approximately 50-100 new jobs to the Lancaster community.

Acme Markets And The Goldenberg Group Announce New Philadelphia Store At Snyder Plaza Shopping Center

PHILADELPHIA – (December 1, 2016) – ACME Markets and real estate development firm, The Goldenberg Group, announce the signing of a lease to construct a new supermarket in the City of Philadelphia.  The new full-line grocery market will be located in the Snyder Plaza Shopping Center and will serve the Pennsport and Whitman neighborhoods as well as the greater Center City area.  The new ACME will include both Starbucks coffee, as well as a beer and wine shop.

The new South Philadelphia store will offer an expansive variety of the freshest produce, top-quality meats and seafood, and a large selection of natural, gluten-free, organic, and local products amidst a comfortable, inviting atmosphere.  The building at 29 Snyder Avenue will be completely gutted and renovated to encompass the new ACME store slated to open in Summer 2017.

ACME Markets joins Target, Marshalls and 20 other retailers on Snyder Avenue, conveniently located off Route 95 and Columbus Boulevard.  The announcement of ACME Markets is the latest step in The Goldenberg Group’s multi-year plan to enhance Snyder Plaza.  In addition to new stores and other capital improvements, plans include the creation of public spaces, improved walkways and better connections to the neighborhoods.

The Goldenberg Group’s People Helping People Foundation is Honored by ICSC for Community Support Campaign

Global industry trade group award highlights partnership with Cradles to Crayons to collect clothing for homeless and low-income children in the Greater Philadelphia area

The International Council of Shopping Centers has recognized The Goldenberg Group’s People Helping People Foundation with the 2016 ICSC Foundation Eastern Region Community Support Award for its “Metroplex May Day” children’s clothing drive campaign.

People Helping People earned the award for its partnership with Cradles to Crayons, a non-profit dedicated to helping children living in poverty, to organize a children’s clothing collection at The Goldenberg Group’s Metroplex Shopping Center in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania.13263827_354634204660715_7000045853372829929_nSeveral volunteers from The Goldenberg Group, People Helping People, and Cradles to Crayons take a pose on Friday, May 20, 2016. 

“The Goldenberg Group is honored and humbled to receive this recognition from ICSC, but our true reward comes from the overwhelming response from the community,” said Ellen Lissy Rosenberg, director of Civic Engagement for The Goldenberg Group. “Because of the generous donations of clothes and other essential items, kids in genuine need in our area can feel safe, warm, ready to learn and valued.”

The drive has become an annual event, with the third annual Metroplex May Day held May 20 and 21, 2016. This weekend’s collections exceeded last year’s, with 1,455 13-gallon bags dropped off over the two-day period. Those donations will serve 2,184 children.

The Metroplex May Day event brings together a wide array of constituencies, including corporations, schools, retailers, individuals, families and local community organizations to respond to the needs of children living in poverty within the Greater Philadelphia Region.

To increase the event’s capacity and impact in its second year, People Helping People and Cradles to Crayons added the “Battle of the Schools,” a friendly collection competition between four schools in close proximity to the Metroplex.

Donations from the “Battle of the Schools” made up 58% of the total number of 13-gallon bags collected at last year’s event.

The ICSC Foundation’s Community Support Award contests recognize a variety of corporate social responsibility and community outreach efforts by shopping centers, their management companies or developers. The People Helping People Foundation received the award in Las Vegas on May 22, at ICSC’s annual RECon show, the world’s largest retail real estate exhibition. As a regional winner, People Helping People has been entered into the international Albert Sussman International Community Support Award competition. The foundation also received a $5,000 grant for its partnering charity, Cradles to Crayons.

 

 

Target to Open at Hamilton Crossings in 60 Days!

Target will open on July 23rd at Hamilton Crossings, a new $140-million, 73 acre commercial town center coming soon to Lower Macungie Township. The center is one of the only ground-up 560,000 square foot projects in the Country.

 

Group from Australia Impressed by Innovative Main Line Luxury Community

Earlier this month, nearly twenty Australian architects, developers and builders in search of new ideas trekked to the Main Line to tour an innovative green community designed especially for boomers.

Haverford Reserve, a “lifestyle community” located just off Darby Road in Haverford Township, was honored to host members of the Queensland chapter of the Urban Development Institute of Australia. Haverford Reserve was the exclusive stop in Philadelphia during their week-long tour of the northeastern United States.

The group was welcomed by Todd Pohlig of the Pohlig Companies, builders of the Athertyn condominium residences, and David Mercuris of The Goldenberg Group, developers who have partnered with custom builder Guidi Homes to create the built-to-order Carriage Homes.

At the plush Athertyn Clubhouse, the men described the intense competition among developers to acquire the 209 acre site…their vision for preserving 120 acres of woodlands…and their approach to designing a community for a generation born between 1946 and 1964. Their winning plan added 1,500 trees to the property, reduced storm water management by over 50%, and reserved significant acreage for Haverford Township to create playing fields, a playground, walking and biking trails, and the award-winning Recreational and Environmental Center.

In addition to learning about the Reserve’s environmental innovations, the Australians also came to see the home designs that were proving so attractive to affluent Boomers. According to Todd Pohlig, these empty nesters want to stay close to friends and social clubs, crave a maintenance-free “lock and leave” lifestyle, and are ready to “right-size” their homes, but demand very high-end finishes and amenities.

The attentive audience asked about the sizes of residences, the customization process, and marketing strategies. David Mercuris explained, “Rather than set age restrictions, we focus on delivering the amenities our buyers want.” Both Athertyn and the Carriage Homes continue to refine their residential designs based on feedback from buyers.

After the presentation, the guests toured the Athertyn and Carriage Home models, and were deeply impressed by the expansive spaces, extensive use of luxe materials and appliances, and the high level of craftsmanship throughout. One architect said that in Australia, she only sees this level of detailing in custom homes: “Tastes are quite different. We have cleaner lines, and rarely have wallpaper or timber paneling. But without a doubt, the craftsmanship is astounding.”

The group also admired the natural beauty of the neighborhood set in a nature preserve. “The privacy is remarkable,” said architect Marina Vit. “There’s a sense of being part of nature that gives you a very warm feeling. I can appreciate how close friendships can form so quickly in this setting.”

Phil Goodman, CEO of Pradella Property Ventures, effectively summed up the feelings of the group: “Custom quality like this doesn’t exist back home. Haverford Reserve has had the same effect on each of us; we all walked in and went ‘Wow!’ Delivering this level of choice to each buyer is simply incredible.”
