Home goods retailer Pier 1 Imports on Tuesday opened its doors at Hamilton Crossings, the latest addition to the Lower Macungie Township shopping center.

The 7,700-square-foot location is the 37th store in Pennsylvania for the Fort Worth, Texas-based retailer that specializes in home decor and furniture. It is the chain’s third location in the Lehigh Valley; it also has stores on MacArthur Road in Whitehall Township and in the Southmont shopping center in Bethlehem Township.

“We are pleased to bring this new Pier 1 Imports to Trexlertown and hope that our new location will inspire customers to discover endless possibilities for their home that are unique to Pier 1 Imports,” Pier 1 President and CEO Alex W. Smith said in a news release.

On average, the company said, the store will employ about 18 to 20 associates throughout the year, with associate hours fluctuating based on the needs of the business and the season. The Hamilton Crossings location also features the company’s new store concept, which uses a new interior including natural-colored floor tiles, rustic ceiling elements, enhanced store lighting and lit shelving units.

Pier 1 said the first 500 customers each day through Thursday will receive a free reusable bag in celebration of the opening. Store hours were not immediately available.

Pier 1 joins a growing list of retailers that have already opened at Hamilton Crossings. That list includes Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza, the Lehigh Valley’s first Whole Foods and Nordstrom Rack. [go to article]
